Partnering for a Sustainable Future on the Isles of Scilly
The Isles of Scilly are home to extraordinary natural and cultural heritage—and is a place that must be carefully looked after for future generations. The Small is Beautiful project has a future vision of an intricate landscape distinct by its small scale, but rich in wildlife; with thriving communities, enterprises and farms supporting productive flower and insect rich habitats.
Led by the Isles of Scilly Nature Co. Ltd, the project is supported by organisations including the Duchy of Cornwall, Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust, Isles of Scilly National Landscape and Tresco Island Limited. The Small is Beautiful project aims to:
-
Reconnect wildlife rich habitat enabling the recovery of rare species, including potential re-introduction of Moss Carder bee.
-
Maintain a patchwork of regeneratively farmed fields maximising carbon storage in soils.
-
Enhance biosecurity to protect special habitats and places
